Fruering, Stilling, and Solbjerg Lakes by bike
Here is a bike ride for those of you who want beautiful nature experiences without too many hills.
Bike ride approximately 31 km
The approx. 31 km route takes you through an open and varied landscape north of Skanderborg – past lakes, villages, and beautiful viewpoints.
Start, for example, at Stilling Lake, where you can enjoy a swim from the child-friendly sandy beach or take a quiet break by the water. From here, the tour continues through Fruering, where there is a lovely view from the church over the rolling hills. Along the way, you also pass Vitved Church, Blegind Church, and Skårup Kirkevej, all offering scenic glimpses of the East Jutland landscape.
A highlight of the trip is a stop at Pilbrodalen. It’s worth parking your bike and taking a short walk through the narrow ravines and steep slopes of the valley. Bring binoculars – the area is rich in birdlife and small animals found in the wetlands, bogs, and streams.
On the way, it’s also worth taking a detour to Vestermølle, which features a restaurant, museum, and a marked trail through the historic surroundings.
Other stops might include Galleri Art Expo for a touch of culture or Bakkely Picnic Spot – a perfect place for a break with panoramic views.
The route is suitable for adults and older children and makes for a relaxed half-day tour through one of the lesser-known corners of the Søhøjlandet area.
