Kingfisher safari
Take a trip on the Gudenå River and experience the kingfisher's beautiful blue and orange plumage up close.
With Outdoor Connection as a guide, you have the unique opportunity to join a kingfisher safari. The trip is on the Gudenå and Salten Å rivers, between Klostermølle and Ry. The next trip is October 13, 2025.
During the trip, there are good chances of seeing herons, great crested grebe, cormorants, swans, and if you are very lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of a white-tailed eagle or an otter.
The kingfisher is both beautiful and rare; there are fewer than 400 breeding pairs in Denmark, but many of them can be spotted from the water in the area between Mossø and Gudensø. The trip has therefore provided optimal conditions for experiencing the bird. However, you should be aware that the kingfisher is a shy bird, and you must therefore be alert and quick to be sure to see it.
The trip takes place in a canoe and starts from Emborg Bridge at Gl. Rye and lasts 3-4 hours.
There are no participation requirements, and the tour is suitable for the whole family, but there is a minimum requirement of 6 participants and a maximum of 12 participants.
Price: 600.- DKK / person - Children between 6 and 12 years are half price.
