Shelter at Ejer Bavnehøj

Stay overnight in nature at Denmark’s highest point

Ejer Bavnehøj offers more than just breathtaking views – it also features a lovely shelter site just 80 metres from the summit.
The site includes two shelters, each accommodating 6 adults or 8 children. You'll sleep in peaceful surroundings with free access to a firepit, large grill, and picnic tables. Firewood must be brought by visitors. No booking – shelters operate on a first-come, first-served basis.

The area is part of the Ejer Bjerge Trail – a scenic path leading you to Møllehøj, Denmark’s highest natural point (170.86 m above sea level), marked by a large millstone. From the top, you can enjoy a stunning view over the Gudenå Valley and the Central Jutland landscape.

Ejer Bavnehøj and Møllehøj are part of BestigBjerge.dk, and the area is ideal for both short walks and longer nature experiences. Please note: the trail is uneven and not suitable for those with limited mobility, wheelchairs, or prams. Dogs are welcome – but must be on a leash.

Parking is available at Ejer Bavnehøj, only 80 metres from the shelter site. Here you'll also find waste bins, as well as access to toilets and drinking water between 7 AM and 10 PM.

Overnight stay is limited to one night. Always clean up after yourself.
