Tinbæksøen, Skovby
As part of a climate adaptation project in Galten-Skovby, Skanderborg Utility and Skanderborg Municipality have created a new area along Tinbækstien.
The overall goal was to climate-proof a tunnel (viaduct) on Skovlundvej, which would flood during heavy rain events. This meant, among other things, that schoolchildren were forced to cross a heavily trafficked road to get to and from school on foot. Nearby areas also suffered from the rainfall, so a climate adaptation solution has now been implemented to divert surface water to a new recreational area by Tinbæksøen.
Background
At the end of November 2016, Skanderborg Utility took the first groundbreaking step in the climate adaptation project in Skovby. In early October 2017, Skanderborg Utility began the final phase of creating a new and exciting natural area with organically shaped rainwater lakes that are both connected to the town and open up toward the surrounding landscape.
New Opportunities
The placement of the lakes made it possible to create a green area with space for relaxation, play, and physical activity. In connection with the two new lakes, a circular area was created in the grass for seating with benches and picnic tables. These were placed at the lake’s edge to provide direct access and a view of the water.
Today, there is an existing bridge over the Mosagergrøften leading to the campfire site and the lake to the south. As a connecting link, a new cycling and walking path was constructed from the existing path in the north down to the bridge in the south. The new path winds through the landscape, and from it, there is now a connection to Tinbækparken.
UN Sustainable Development Goals
Through these projects in Skanderborg Municipality, efforts contribute to fulfilling the UN's Sustainable Development Goals while also supporting the Danish Water Vision 2025.
